American actor born in Oklahoma, on June 21, 1917. Russell was married to Janie Wade and they had two children. He began his career on stage before moving into films. He made his film debut in The Wrecker (1933), after which he appeared in over 60 WWII-era movies. He's known for The Body Snatcher (1945), Sundown Riders (1944), Shoot to Kill (1947) and Marine Raiders (1944). He retired from acting in 1948 to pursue a career in business and real estate in the Palm Springs area. He died on December 9, 2006, at age 89.
