He was a British actor born in Scotland, UK. He appeared in cinema during the thirties and forties. He began his artistic career with theatrical work with the Garrick Theater Company before moving to Canada to participate as an owner of the Empress Theatre. In 1934, he moved to Hollywood to work in cinema. His notable works include Suzy (1936), Bulldog Drummond's Peril (1938), and The Scarlet Claw (1944). He was married to Fay Holden until he passed away on May 17, 1945, in San Fernando Valley, California, USA.
