A Canadian actress, model, and theater director, born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Her father was a Japanese fashion designer and diplomatic attaché in Canada. She grew up in Japan, where she studied ballet and modeled, eventually becoming Miss Tokyo. She moved to the United States, was discovered by a talent agent, and made gentle and touching appearances in films such as The Geisha Boy (1958), Five Gates to Hell (1959), The Karate Kid Part II (1986), and Last Chance (1999). She died on April 6, 2002, in Londrina, Paraná, Brazil, of an aneurysm.
