An American actor and film director, born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, on December 11, 1883. Howard M. Mitchell married actress Mary Land. He is known for The Mother Heart (1921), Romance Ranch (1924), Lovetime (1921), and Breed of Courage (1927). Mitchell worked in silent cinema and joined the era of the introduction of sound into films. As an actor, he played many supporting roles as a policeman, prisoner, broadcaster, sailor, businessman, and many other roles. He died on October 9, 1958, in Hollywood, California, USA, at the age of 74.
