A Western musician, former circus performer, and prolific film actor, Art Mex was born in Atlas, Illinois, USA, on June 18, 1896. He began his career in silent films and later embraced the sound era, signing with Columbia Pictures (1936-1942) to play cowboys, vagrants, and drunks in Westerns. He was married to the Cuban-American actress Inez Gomez (1927-1942), but they had no children. She remained with him until her death. Some of Art Mex's most notable films include *The Bandit Chaser* (1928), *Treason* (1933), and *Maisie* (1939). He died in Riverside, California, USA, on December 7, 1972, at the age of 76.
