An American film actor, born in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960 for his film work. He was married to Ruth Constantine (1912–1930) and had one child before their divorce. King's most notable film credits include The Kentucky Derby...Read more (1922), The Chance Market (1916), Jim Webb Senator (1914), and Ivanhoe (1913). King was a prolific American actor, film director, and screenwriter of Irish descent. He was an internationally renowned film star during the silent film era and joined the sound era as a small-time actor. He attended Christian Brothers High School and began his stage career in a Shakespearean joint-stock company, touring throughout the United States and appearing on Broadway. His alcoholism ended his career as a director, and he was reduced to playing minor roles in films. King's career ended with him working as a film extra. He died in Los Angeles, California, USA, on July 11, 1948, from a stroke at the age of 68.
