n American actor, born in San Jose, California, USA, on February 9, 1890, as Arthur A. Ortega. He married twice and had one child. Among his most important works are The Valley of Bravery (1926), The Great Secret (1917), Broadway Bill (1918), and American Aristocracy (1916). Artie Ortego was a prolific film and television actor. He was a Native American. He began his artistic career in the silent film era and continued to work in the sound film era. He played the roles of cowboys, henchmen, and Native Americans in a large number of Western films. He also performed horse riding stunts in films. He passed away at the age of 70 in Burbank, California, USA, on July 24, 1960, from a stroke.
