A Japanese actress and musician, born in Tokyo. She gained fame as a Japanese avant-garde artist and musician, and is best known for her marriage to Beatles singer John Lennon. Ono was the first woman to be admitted to the philosophy department at Japan's prestigious Gakushuin University, but she did not continue, dropping out after two semesters. After the family moved to New York, Ono studied at Sarah Lawrence College, where she enjoyed meeting bohemian poets and artists, and she also visited New York City art galleries. She has appeared in films such as Satan's Bed (1965), Let It Be (1970), and George (2018), and several series such as The Beatles: Get Back (2021).
