A British actor who was born in Sevenoaks, Kent, England, United Kingdom on July 26, 1933 and died in London, England, United Kingdom on January 6, 2015. His most important works include Moordspel (1987), Yellow Submarine (1968), and Carry on Cruising (1962). He was known as an English comedian, singer, and actor, best known for his appearances on satirical television programs in the early 1960s and for his ability to improvise on current news stories. He later became a successful after-dinner speaker. He received his education at Sherborne School, where he learned to play the guitar and performed military service as a lieutenant and was sent to Egypt. In 1955, he emigrated to Canada, where he worked as an advertising writer and wrote songs for the radio. He formed the Calypso group in the name of Lord Lance, which toured the United States and Canada, and this made him famous for his performance in television programs. He appeared in many British comedies, and his first movie was Three on a Spree (1961, and he appeared in entertainment programs He was the author of two books of poetry and gained fame as a writer and later as an after-dinner speaker.
