An Indian-Bengali actress during The Silent Era. She was born in 1917 in Bengal, British India. She was one of the first action actresses in Hindi cinema. She started her career with the leading role in the film Sea Goddess (1931) directed by Dhirubhai Desai and produced by Saroj Film Company. She acted in more than a hundred films throughout her career and became known for Chalti Duniya and Hindustan Hamara, Jini Ram Tini Krishno Ek-i Dehe Ramkrishna, Sree Sree Ramkrishna Kathamrita, and Maa Bhabani Maa Amar.
