An Indian dancer and choreographer, based in Kolkata. During the 1970s and 1980s, she was a lead dancer at the Ananda Shankar Centre for Performing Arts. She mixed traditional Indian dance steps with modern ballet moves from the West to make her own modern style. She participated in various productions such as The Namesake (2006), and The Waiting City (2009). She was married to the music composer Ananda Shankar.
