• A Swiss actor, born in Zurich, Switzerland. He was married to actress and writer Karin Kernke, and they had one daughter. His most notable works include Einer frisson den anderen...Read more (1964) and Les mysteries de Paris (1980). He is the son of a Jewish merchant. He began his stage career at the age of 18 and began appearing on screen in the mid-1950s, often playing villainous roles. He used his distinctive resonant voice in radio work. He was also a distinguished theater director and translated the complete works of Edward Albee into German. He died in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, at the age of 85.
