An American actor, born in Mobile, Alabama, on October 14, 1893. Among his most notable films are Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939), Citizen Kane (1941), Notorious (1946), and Some Like It Hot (1959). He died in Los Angeles, California, on January 23, 1960.
