A Belgian actor and fencing master, born to French parents in Laeken, Belgium, as Frederic Adolphe Cavens. He graduated from the Military Institute for Physical Education and Fencing in Belgium, and was responsible for the technique of fencing in Hollywood movies. Shortly after his marriage to a ballerina in a Belgian opera company, he immigrated to the United States to train actors in fencing, and to do stunts in films. He also acted in many films. He's known for The Three Musketeers (1935), Zorro (1957-1961), and The Man in the Iron Mask (1939). He died of uremic poisoning in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA, on April 30, 1962.
