She obtained her high school diploma via correspondence courses and got out of her house after five years of isolation due to her excessive weight. Her performance in What's Eating Gilbert Grape received great acclaim. She is also known for Wolf Girl (2001) and Mother (2014). She died on March 26, 2017, in Forney, Texas, USA.
