Project Aether (2011), his third film as a director, won the Critics' Choice Award for Best Feature from the Houston Film Critics Association. He then directed The Legend of DarkHorse County (2014) and the short film If I Could Talk (2014). Shawn has appeared as an actor in works such as Jean (2016) and Mission from Outer Space (2023).
