Gerald Ford was born on July 14, 1913, in Omaha, Nebraska. He belongs to the Republican Party and served as the 38th president of the United States of America from 1974 to 1977. He took office after President Richard Nixon resigned in the wake of the Watergate scandal. A month after assuming the presidency, Ford sparked widespread controversy in America as a result of his pardon for his predecessor, Nixon, who spied on his Democratic opponent in an attempt to win the elections. In November 12, 2006, Ford became the longest-lived US president, surpassing President Ronald Reagan. He remained active in the Republican Party after years of leaving office. He appeared as himself in The American President (2000) and The Magical World of Disney (1978). He died on December 26, 2006, after suffering from health problems.
