An American actress, born in Los Angeles, California, USA, as Virginia Evangeline Carroll. She married twice and had a child. Her most important works include A Tenderfoot Goes West (1936), Silent Witness (1943), Headline Hunters (1955), and The Black Widow (1947). She was a leading actress in Western B-films and played small roles in other films during the 1930s and 1940s. She was a department store model before working in films, initially appearing as a model in Roberta (1935), and she appeared with her husband, actor Ralph Byrd in Dick Tracy Returns (1938). Her first Western film was A Tenderfoot Goes West (1936). She died in Santa Barbara, California, USA on July 23, 2009.
