An American actress and writer who was born in New York City, New York, USA on February 4, 1927, as Dolores Lila Silverstein. She died in Englewood, New Jersey, USA on May 11, 2009, of cancer. She married Michael Reis (1956-1958), and their marriage ended in divorce. She is known for Where Angels Go Trouble Follows (1968), Crimes and Misdemeanors (1989), and The Trouble with Angels (1966). Her career spanned seven decades. She played roles in television, film and theater. She was born to a family of Russian and Austrian Jewish origins. She graduated from New York University in 1948 after studying philosophy, and in 1949, she wrote a radio script that she sold to NBC and got the voice role. Her first television appearance was in 1950 on The Jack Benny Program. She starred in 3 plays on Broadway and 8 off-Broadway. She also appeared in many notable theatrical performances at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago in the mid-sixties and wrote many television and theater scripts. She made her last appearance on the TV series Law & Order (1991). She retired from acting and devoted herself to writing until her death in 2009 at the age of 82.
