An American actress, born in Houston, on December 31, 1906.She got married to John Robinson in 1933. She is an American film and television actress, singer and dancer, who appeared with a relatively large number of stars of the golden age of Hollywood. She moved with her family to Southern California when she was 11 and studied to become a teacher like her mother, but when she graduated from Jefferson High School, she studied at the Conservatory of Music at the University of California. She then joined an African-American musical comedy theater group, and made her debut in the movie Thunderbolt in 1929, where she sang and acted. In addition to films, Harris presented many radio programs, and during the fifties she appeared in several television programs, and her last appearance was in The Gift of Love in 1958. Among the her most important works: Baby Face (1933), Our Wife (1941), Jezebel (1938), and I Walked with a Zombie (1943). She retired and was able to invest what she saved in art, to live comfortably until she died. She died in California, on October 8, 1985.
