German actor and director, born on November 3, 1872 in Würzburg, Bavaria, Germany. He spent several years on the stage before entering the film industry with Edison in 1905. Panzer was best known for his role in The Perils of Pauline (1947). His screen debut was in Stolen by Gypsies (1905). Paul Panzer appeared in more than 300 films, and his notable works include The Unchastened Woman (1918), The Black Book (1929), and Romeo and Juliet (1908). He died on August 16, 1958, at the age of 85, in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA.
