She is a South African actress, director, and writer. She was born in Grahamstown, South Africa. She attended Wellington College and then studied English, French, history, and art history. She studied history at the University of Edinburgh. She is known for Skyfall (2012), Doctor Who (2007), and The Line of Beauty (2006).
