British actor born in London, on March 1, 1918. He was married to Olga Anthonisz, and after the divorce he got married to the actress Kismet Delgado (1957-1973), who remained with him until his death. He was born to a Spanish father and a French mother. He had a long history of playing the role of young villains, worked as a voice actor on BBC Radio and was notable in several television series. He attended Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School, a Roman Catholic school, and then attended the London School of Economics, but dropped out. He worked extensively in British theater and radio since 1939, and served during World War II in the Royal Signal Corps, attaining the rank of major. His most important works include: The Man in the Iron Mask (1968), Doctor Who (1971-1973), The Running Man (1963), and St. Ives (1955). He died in Nevsehir, Turkey, due to a road accident on June 18, 1973.
