Biographies:

• British actor, director and writer, who was born March 20, 1911 in Poland. He was born to a family of Jews who fled anti-Semitism during World War II. He was trained as a lawyer in...Read more Vienna, before he started acting at Max Reinhardt's school. He was forced to flee Nazi Germany in 1939 due to his Jewish background. He settled in England, joined the Oxford Pilgrim Players and later participated in anti-Nazi propaganda broadcasts for the BBC. After the war, he worked in London's West End theaters, cabarets, television and cinema, where he played secondary roles. He also worked as a screenwriter and director on BBC Radio, in addition to teaching for some time at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). He is known for The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), Operation Crossbow (1965) and The Woman in White (1982). He died on December 22, 1992 in Camden, London, England (age 81).
