British author of science fiction and philosopher, born on May 10, 1886, in England. His parents were William Clibbert Stapeldon, and Emmeline Miller. He received his education at Abbotsholme School and Balliol College, Oxford, where he acquired a BA degree in Modern History in 1909. He is known for Last and First Men, and A Modern Magician. He died on September 6, 1950 in Cheshire, England.
