American actor born in Chicago, Illinois, on July 9, 1900 as Charles Zola Sherlock. He is known for One Hour to Live (1939), King of the Turf (1939), and Shakedown (1950). He played several supporting roles, such as a reporter, detective and secretary. His first film was The Dark Horse (1932), and his last work was the TV series The Big Valley (1965). He died in California, on May 1, 1983, at the age of 82.
