American actress born Virginia Ann Koerlin in the Bronx, New York, on 20 March 1920. She is of German and Italian descent. She was educated in New York and, before entering Hollywood in 1942, she worked as a figure skater and a choir girl. Her career in film and TV spanned over 30 years. Her notable works include The Vampire (1957), Born Reckless (1958), and Philo Vance Returns (1947). She was married and divorced twice. She died on 7 May 1994 in Los Angeles, California.
