English actor, writer and comedian, born in London, on September 26, 1888. He often played working-class or lower-ranking roles in the military or sailors. He began working in concert halls theaters since 1912, in regular theaters and the Royal Theater in 1938. His cinematic debut was in the silent film Blighty (1927), and his last appearance was in the television series Doctor in the House (1970). Among his notable works: Badger’s Green (1934), Not So Dusty (1936) and Dancers in Mourning (1959). He died in England, on October 27, 1970.
