American musician and actor born in State Road, North Carolina, US on 30 June 1931. He was nominated for a Golden Globe in 1968. His film appearances include Pajama Party (1964). His music was also featured on several soundtracks for works such as Whip It (2009), Good Morning, Vietnam (1987), and Ski Fever (1966). He died on 10 January 1993 in Maitland, Florida, US.
