• British actor who was born in Kensington, London, England, United Kingdom on October 25, 1919 as Peter Norman Bulmer Howell. He married Susan Cheshire (1957-1992) and they got four...Read more children, and she remained with him until her death. Among his notable works: The Libertine (2004), The Guardians (1971), and Scum (1979). He attended Winchester College and began studying law at Oxford, but dropped out when he was called up for military service when the war broke out in 1939. He became interested in acting owing to his sister Gillian, who was studying at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). He later joined the Old Vic Company, where he gained experience from the small parts he performed, which provided him with the foundation for a career in theater and cinema that spanned over 50 years. Since then, he played many roles on stage, television, and radio. He died in London, England, on April 20, 2015.
