British producer and actor, born in London, England, United Kingdom on May 16, 1920. He was previously married to actress Anne Padwick in 1952, and they got two children. Among his notable works: Fatal Sky (1990), See No Evil (1971), and The Lion in Winter (1968). He worked in film, television and theater and is the father of actresses Lucy Appleby and Suky Appleby and the grandfather of actors Henry Lloyd- Hughes and Ben Lloyd-Hughes. He passed away in Bad Ischl, Austria on December 22, 2016, at the age of 96.
