American actor, born in Brooklyn, on January 5, 1915. He got married to actress Sedna Scott (1945-1993), who remained with him until his death. He began his career as a stage actor best known for his work in Broadway plays from 1935 to 1946. His most important works are: Planet of the Apes (1974), Love and Bullets (1979), and 55 Days at Peking (1963). He died in Westwood Los Angeles, on August 12, 1993, of a heart attack.
