Richard Herbert Vivian Lloyd was a British author. He was born on December 8, 1906, in Hendon, Middlesex, England, United Kingdom. His works include "At Sunrise, the Rough Music" (1976) and "A Man in a Mirror" (1964). "Poison Pen", his first play, was produced on the London stage and was a success. The film How Green Was My Valley (1941), based on his novel, became one of the most famous and critically acclaimed films in the history of Hollywood and is considered by many critics to be the greatest work of America's greatest director. It won the Academy Award for Best Picture, among other awards. Richard Llewellyn died on November 30, 1983, in Dublin, Ireland.
