British actor, born on May 7, 1900, in London, England. Truman studied at the Royal College of Music. Beside appearing on TV, films and plays, he was a pioneer radio actor, and emerged in over 5000 broadcasts during his career. He was usually cast as either a villain or an authority figure, since he possessed a distinguished speaking voice. He is known for The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956), Quo Vadis (1951), and Beyond This Place (1959). He was married to the radio artist, Ellis Powell. Ralph Truman died on October 15, 1977, in Ipswich, Suffolk, England.
