A British writer, born on October 2, 1953. She is known for The Bay of Silence (2020). Lisa's father was the Guyanese writer and academic Jan Carew. She studied at James Allen's Girls' School. Her first novel "Keepers of the House" won her the Somerset Maugham Award as well as a place on Granta's list of Best of Young British Novelists. She established her own film production company, Radiant Pictures. She married three times and had three children. In 2004, Lisa founded the Teran Foundation to help poor villages in Northern Mozambique.
