A British actor and writer, born on January 3, 1946, in England, United Kingdom. His credits include Horrible Histories with Stephen Fry (2011), He Will Hang, and Great North: A Run. A River. A Region. (2021). In 2012, Deary was the tenth most-borrowed writer in British libraries, and he was also voted Outstanding Children's Non-Fiction Author of the 20th Century by Books for Keeps magazine. Terry qualified as a teacher at Sunderland's College of Education and taught drama. Between 1975 and 1977, he served as the theatre director and county drama advisor of the Lowestoft Theatre Centre in Suffolk. In 2000, he was awarded an honorary doctorate in education from the University of Sunderland.
