A British director, producer, and actor, born on August 9, 1917, in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, United Kingdom. He was married to Anne Allan. Julian directed a number of productions for the BBC, then he joined Granada Television in the early 1960s, where he served as head of drama from 1963 to 1977. Amyes worked on some independent productions before serving as a director on episodes of The Bill (1989-1990) and Rumpole of the Bailey (1988-1991) for Thames Television. He is known for Jane Eyre (1983), BBC Sunday-Night Theatre (1950), and Danger Man (1960). He died on April 26, 1992, in London, England.
