British actor, born in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England, on August 27, 1918 as Norman Mitchell Driver. Norman got married twice and had three children. He worked in film, television, theater and radio. His father was an engineer and his mother was a singer. He joined the Grammar School, then studied medicine at Sheffield University. At the age of 18, he went to London to become an actor. He was enlisted for several years in the Royal Army Medical Corps, during the Second World War. After the war, he appeared in the Royal Shakespeare Theater. His notable works, include: The Pink Panther Strikes Again (1976), Danger UXB (1979), and Oliver! (1968). He died in Downham Market, Norfolk, England, on March 19, 2001.
