British actor, boxer and stuntman, born in Camberwell, London, on August 15, 1928 as Frederick Bernard Powell. In 1952, he got married to Pauline Wellman, and they had two children. His career spanned for more than 5 decades. After their home was bombed during the war, they were deported to Swanage, where he attended Swanage Grammar School. After returning to London, he began practicing boxing, and continued to box while serving in the army. He began appearing in film and television during the 1940s, and in the 1950s he and his wife ran a bar near Wimbledon. Among his notable works are: Department S (1969), First Knight (1995), and Krull (1983). He died in London, on April 20, 2013.
