A German actor and director, born on November 4, 1905, in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany. He is known for Haus im Feuer (1960), Ein Mädchen von 16 ½ (1958), and Der Teufelskreis (1956). He was married to Eva Schmidt-Kayser and Almuth Dorowa. Balhaus was trained at the acting school of the Deutsches Theater in Berlin and later joined the ensemble of the Volksbühne (1926-1935). He died on July 28, 1968, in Thuringia, Germany.
