Jacques Romain Georges Brel, a Belgian actor, song-writer, music composer, and singer. He was born on April 8, 1929 in Schaerbeek, Brussels, Belgium. He was one of the most popular singers of French songs before becoming an actor in musical plays and films, and he directed two films. In the 70s, he planned to sail around the world. He was married to Thérèse 'Miche' Michielsen and had three daughters. He has a metro stop named after him in Brussels on the line 1B. The viewers of the Walloon TV program ranked him as the greatest Belgian, placing him in first place. He sang in French and Dutch, and he is known for Far West (1973), Groundhog Day(1993), and Welcome to the Sticks (2008). He died of lung cancer on October 9, 1978 in Bobigny, Seine-Saint-Denis, France.
