A German writer and director, born on July 1, 1946, in Stade, Germany. He is also a journalist and worked as the chief editor of the German weekly news magazine "Der Spiegel" from 1994 to 2008. He is known for The Baader Meinhof Complex (2008), War and Peace (1982), and Die RAF (2007).
