A Mexican producer, director, and screenwriter, born on July 10, 1953, in Mexico City, Mexico, as Hans Anthony Beimler. His father, a German immigrant, was a commercial manager and cameraman. His mother was an American author and painter. He is the grandson of the historical political figure Hans Beimler. He attended the University of Southern California, where he studied film production and graduated in 1977. He worked as a documentary cameraman and then as an assistant director in several TV shows. He began his career as a screenwriter in 1985 when he wrote the script for the series Shadow Chasers. In 1997, he was nominated for the Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
