A Russian actress, born in Kalinkovichi, Minsk, Russian Empire. Katharine married once and had no children. Her works include People Will Talk (1951), Try and Get Me! (1950), The Snake Pit (1948), and The Seventh Cross (1944). She worked and starred on Broadway in the late 1930s and was a guest on cinema and television in minor roles. Born to a Hebrew teacher and amateur writer, Katherine Locke was educated at the Damrosch Academy as a pianist but became a stage actress. Her movie debut was Straight From the Shoulder (1936), and her last work was A Certain Smile (1958). She died in Los Angeles, California, USA, on September 12, 1995, of a brain tumor.
