A British actor, writer, and director. He was born on July 3, 1930, in Scotland, UK. He launched his acting career at the Manchester Repertory Theatre shortly after World War II. Later, he moved to London and appeared in various roles on different stages. His one-man show, Your Humble Sevant, was written and presented at London's Open Space Theatre. He performed in Dundee, Scotland, in 1973 and decided to stay. From 1976 to 1992, he was the creative director of the Dundee Repertory Theatre, where he performed and directed. He is known for his roles in Breaking the Waves (1996), Taggart (1985-2001), and Killer (1983). He died at the age of 70 from a heart attack while reading a Robert Burns poem on stage in Perth on January 17, 2001.
