An Italian actor and screenwriter, born in Leghorn, Tuscany, Italy. His children are actors Cosimo Messeri and Maddalena Messeri. He studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, and acting at the drama school of the Piccolo Teatro in Milan. Subsequently, he appeared in several stage productions. In 1988, he won the Golden Ciak Award for Best Supporting Actor for Le vie del Signore sono finite. He is also a singer, songwriter, and composer, and often uses these skills in his theatrical productions. His works include Notte italiana (1987) and Con gli occhi chiusi (1994).
