An American actress, born in Coldwater, Michigan, USA, as Ruth Thane Shoecraft. She married Mr. Patrick John McDevitt (1928-1934) and remained with him until his death. Her credits include The Birds (1963), Dear Heart (1964), Kolchak: The Night Stalker (1974-1975), and The Parent Trap (1961). She graduated from the University of Worcester, then studied drama at the Toledo Academy, but after she graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, she got married and devoted herself to home life. In 1934, she decided to return to acting again and began to indulge in community plays. She found herself in radio and Broadway theaters during the thirties and forties, in comedy and drama, and she had a role in cinema during the fifties. She returned to Broadway during the sixties. She died in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA, on April 27, 1976.
