His father is the author Desmond Zwar, who wrote the best-selling book "The Loneliest Man in the World" about Nazi prisoner, Rudolf Hess, and other books, and his mother is a journalist. He began his career in the field of acting first, and that was through his participation in the series Neighbors (1998). In 2002, he produced and directed the short film Wilfred. His works have also won and been nominated for several important awards. He is married to director and writer Amanda Brotchie.
