She was an American actress, born on June 1, 1908, in Lincoln, Nebraska, USA, as Mae Hitchcock. She obtained her degree in theatrical arts from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. She launched her acting career as a leading actress on the Broadway stage, and from there she entered the worlds of cinema and television. She was a member of the Screen Actors Guild and supportive of the Motion Picture and Television Fund. She was also a theatrical instructor at the Pasadena Playhouse. After her retirement in 1971, she took part in religious and philanthropic activities until she died. She is known for her roles in Monsieur Verdoux (1947), The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet (1958-1963), and I Love Lucy (1955). She was married to Manuel Fouce. She passed away at the age of 65 on May 21, 1974, in Glendale, Los Angeles County, California, USA.
