An American physicist who works at NASA's Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center. She is the first Hispanic woman to serve as flight director at NASA. She obtained a Bachelor of Science from Texas Tech University and also obtained a master's degree in physics from the same university after her injury prevented her from completing her career in basketball. She has appeared in a number of documentaries, including Mission Control: The Unsung Heroes of Apollo (2017).
